Where nothing is everything... beyond luxury
Updated: Aug 5, 2022
With the backdrop of sun dappled peaks, the vintage roadster balanced and in harmony with the legendary compositions of Ennio Morricone. Perfection. Our goal achieved. Isolation from the homogenised content bombardment of the modern world.
Nestled in the heart of South Tyrol lies a hidden gem. A perfect Austria of powder tipped mountain panoramas, cashmere throws and elegant yet simple region cuisine.
At Innervillgraten, Austria is pure luxury, real luxury, time passes at its own rate, the saturation of the modern world of calmed by the shroud of nothing except beauty, nature and the odd passing deer. Mountain roads hug the valleys with the occasional Porsche dashing on a hill climb for an afternoon Kaiserschmarrn and Almdudler. Even the beer is pure by a law decree since 1516.
I first discover this enclave in Hip Hotels Ski by Herbert Ympa in the guise of Gannerhof and its amazing Michelin quality local produce expertly prepared by Josef Mühlmann.
Innervillgraten is truly authentic and still true to the heart. Even an Englishman can still feel exotic here, as English is rarely spoken or needed. We made do with smiles and our learned local dialect to get by, lived like them for a few days and watched the timber bleach while the snow melted.
An experience of powder and cashmere, a cherishing feeling that can’t be explained in English...Gemutlich!
